The Skatin’ Rebels opened the first ACHA Men’s Division I computer rankings of the 2026-27 season at No. 4, following an undefeated 10-0-0 start.
The rankings were compiled before UNLV’s Nov. 3-4 series against Arizona State. The Rebels entered the series with a perfect record after consistently holding the No. 2 position in the previous coaches' polls. UNLV has since improved to 12-0-0.
Despite the team’s top-five national ranking, head coach Anthony Vignieri-Greener said the rankings haven't been a major focus for the team.
“I don’t even know if a lot of guys pay attention to that right now. It’s just so early in the year,” Vignieri-Greener said. “Either you use it as motivation to keep climbing the ladder and get back to our goal of being one and two, or you brush it off and continue doing what we’re doing.”
The ACHA highlighted UNLV’s sweep of Utah in its first computer ranking. The Rebels earned 3-1 and 4-0 victories at City National Arena, with their power play converting five times on 10 opportunities throughout the series.
Goaltender Liam Choquette also recorded a 28-save shutout in Friday’s victory.
Through the team’s first 10 games, Vignieri-Greener pointed to the depth of the roster as one of its biggest strengths. He said he is comfortable relying on all 15 forwards, nine defensemen, and the team’s goaltenders.
“Overall, great group of kids, great leadership core. They’re doing a hell of a job, so I love where we’re at,” Vignieri-Greener said. “Do I think that we have a couple more levels in us? Yeah, I honestly do.”
As the Rebels continue their undefeated start, Vignieri-Greener emphasized the importance of focusing on what the team can control rather than outside factors.
“We can’t control what that computer does,” Vignieri-Greener said.
